Our Story
What started as a plan to earn money for a camera
became a passion for entrepreneurship
The name Kiekie comes from my love of photography
As a learner of Merensky Agricultural Academy, I dreamed of buying my photography teacher's camera. My parents agreed to pay half the cost but challenged me to earn the other half myself by thinking like an entrepreneur.
I started baking and selling chocolate chip cookies in my school hostel, and before long I had earned enough to contribute towards the camera. What I didn't expect was that I would fall in love with business along the way.
The support I received from fellow learners, hostel friends and teachers gave me the opportunity to grow my small idea into something much bigger. Their encouragement played an important role in helping me take my first steps as an entrepreneur.
In 2025, I entered entrepreneur Albert van Wyk's Maak My 'n Miljoenêr programme. It taught me invaluable business principles and showed me that brownies offered an exciting opportunity for growth. By the end of the competition, I proudly finished in third place.

Our family farms blueberries in Limpopo, and the farm remains at the heart of everything we do. These are the values that inspire our products, our relationships and our slogan.

Growing dreams, blueberries and brownies
Today, Kiekie has grown from a school project into a small but thriving business. While I continue to drive the vision and growth of the brand, my mom manages the day-to-day operations, baking and production.
We are also supported by two dedicated team members who help with packaging, sealing, preparing orders and everything in between.

Just as Kiekie began with a challenge to earn something through initiative and hard work, many learners now resell our products to earn extra income and gain valuable business experience.
