History

Jagtersreg (JRM Goods & Services (Pty) Ltd) was founded in 2012 by Kobus van den Berg, although it was only formally registered in 2013. Like most businesses, JRM had a very humble beginning — leaving the corporate environment, with both parents unemployed, a three‑month‑old baby girl, and houses and vehicles to pay for. Little did I know at the time that this could turn out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me (those were very stressful times).

In October 2014 both Elcaria (my wife) and I were without work and Katryn was a full three months old. In December 2014 my trading licence to operate was approved, and a bit of hope returned in a dark period. I focused on the firearms side while my wife handled the bookkeeping, and now, more than ten years later, we are still pushing forward — this time in a place where others cannot control our lives. Everything we achieved we could not have done alone. Someone looked after us, and only by grace did we make it through.

Existence

JRM has grown tremendously since its inception and has demonstrated an exceptional success rate with new applications and renewals of firearm licences for self‑defence, hunting, and sport shooting (including dedicated licences). Our principal aim is to help legal firearm owners and prospective owners comply with the law and to simplify firearm applications and licensing.

With 25 years of hands‑on experience in handling firearms — as a dedicated hunter, professional hunter, sport shooter and bushveld enthusiast — the knowledge I have acquired over the years is a valuable asset and is incorporated into the licence motivations we prepare for clients.

I understand the frustration and difficulty people face when applying for firearms in South Africa today because I have experienced it myself. I know exactly what is expected of applicants and ensure the necessary information is included in each motivation.

JRM was granted a licence to trade in firearms and ammunition after a lengthy process, and since then the business has added further products and manufacturers, including Ruger, Sako, Tikka, Marlin, Howa, Swarovski, Vortex, Arken, Zeiss and many more.

Proses

RM provides motivations for all calibres of rifles, handguns, semi‑automatic rifles and shotguns. After receipt of payment and all required information, the motivation will be emailed to the client within two business days (depending on workload) for final approval. A printed copy is available for collection on request.

Once a client completes the necessary application form and submits the additional information needed for the motivation, the client’s data is retained for future motivations. When an additional firearm motivation is requested, only the firearm details and any information that has changed since the previous motivation will be required.

As a hunter and nature lover I strive to offer the best possible service and prices to my clients, helping to ensure many future hunts and continued use of our beloved firearms.
